The 3D modular synth is drawing 3 simple bands of polygons that follow the waweform.
The waveform is processed using a motion blur type effect that is also used in the 2D texture generation with the feedback effects.
3 layers, first layer is from the 2d engine, second layer and third layers are 3d dolphins swimming over the texture.
1 layer, really classical 2d visualization, just particles disolving.
2 layers, first layer is generated 2d texture on a flat plane to fill the screen, second layer is mapped on blobs. The size of the blobs are connected to the values of the music spectrum.
